A Wexford house can run anywhere from about 3,300 square feet to more than 9,500, and the roofline grows right along with it. That’s a lot of eave to cover from a ladder on a cold Saturday. We do Wexford Christmas light hanging so you can spend that Saturday some other way.
Why a big roof is a job for the phone first
With a large house, the temptation is to light every edge. It rarely looks best. The houses that look right at night usually have three or four strong lines and nothing else: the main ridge or eave, the gables that face the street, the entry.
So when you call (916) 675-8282, expect us to ask for a few texted pictures (or use the contact page), and we’ll talk through which lines to keep. That conversation is the estimate. Nobody has to drive over and pace your driveway.
The roofline lights themselves go up on clips. Tile roofs get a clip that tucks beneath the tile edge, and guttered eaves get one that grips the gutter. We don’t walk tile if a ladder will reach, and no nail, staple or drill is involved.
Half an acre to an acre and a half
Lots in Wexford run from roughly half an acre to an acre and a half. On the smaller ones the house fills the view and the roofline does most of the work. On the larger ones there’s lawn and planting between the street and the front door, and that space wants something in it.
- Tree wraps on one or two trunks near the drive, with the turns kept close and even.
- Stake lighting along the driveway or the front walk, set back from the edge and away from sprinkler heads.
- Pillar wraps on entry columns or on the posts at a private driveway gate.
- Lit garland framing the entry, plus a lit wreath or two up on the house, hung from hooks that come off clean.
Out on Wexford Circle, people see your place from a moving car and from a fair distance. Steady light and plain shapes show better at that range than anything fussy.
Our Granite Bay page has more on the town, and our page on lighting a home covers the general approach. Friends over in Treelake Village can find their own page too.
The association and Wexford Christmas light hanging
Wexford has a homeowners association that keeps up the grounds, the landscaped common areas, the sports courts and the other recreation facilities. We looked for its holiday decoration rules and found nothing public. So this page has no dates. Ask your association what the current window is, and we’ll fit our work to it.
One thing we do regardless: we leave the manicured common areas alone. Those trees and the plantings at the entrance aren’t ours to touch unless the association asks us to.
Clearing our truck with the Wexford guard
The entrance gate is guarded around the clock. Let the guard know which day we’re coming and we’ll take it from there. We arrive with the lights, cords, clips and ladders. You don’t need to buy or dig out a thing.
The trip back after New Year’s
We return in January, clear with the gate again, and remove every strand, clip and stake. It all goes home with us, so there’s nothing to coil up and nothing to store. Should a section go dark while the display is up, call (916) 675-8282 and we’ll tend to it.
Text the photos to (916) 675-8282 whenever you’re ready. Three or four strong lines, and the rest of that roof can stay dark.
A few Wexford questions
Are there HOA dates for Christmas lights in Wexford?
Wexford has an association, but we found no public copy of its holiday rules. Ask the association for the current window and we’ll time both visits around it.
How does your crew get in with a 24-hour guarded gate?
You tell the guard we’re expected. That’s needed twice: hanging day, and takedown day in January.
Does Wexford Christmas light hanging mean lighting the whole roofline on a large home?
No, and we usually advise against it. A few strong lines facing the street look better and are easier to keep straight.
Can you decorate the trees by the entrance?
Those are common areas the HOA maintains. We only work on them if the association hires us.
