By about half past five on a December evening, the nature trail along East Roseville Parkway has gone quiet and the houses behind it are the only thing lit. Treelake Village looks good at that hour. It looks better with a clean line of lights along a few roofs. If you’ve been meaning to ask somebody about Treelake Village Christmas light hanging, ask us. We’re a Loomis crew, and Granite Bay is most of our December.
Where a Treelake house gets seen from
Before we talk about what to light, we like to know who’s looking and from where.
If your back fence faces the East Roseville Parkway trail, evening walkers see the rear of your house more than the front. A single run on the back eave is plenty there. If you’re near the private lake or the park, think about the side that faces the open ground, because lights carry a long way across grass and water with nothing in between.
And if you’re on one of the routes families use getting to Granite Bay High School, or you get the after-dinner traffic coming home from Granite Bay Golf Club, then the front is your stage. Roofline first, then one wrapped tree near the street so the yard doesn’t fall away into black.
Granite Bay doesn’t have many addresses on the public light-tour lists. The one local family list we checked for 2024 had a single Granite Bay entry, over on Royall Oaks Drive. There’s room for a few more good houses.
734 homes and one association
Treelake is a planned development in central Granite Bay, 734 residences under the Treelake Village Homeowners Association. We went looking for the association’s holiday decoration rules and didn’t find them published. So we won’t tell you a date. Your own copy of the rules will say whether there’s a window for putting lights up and bringing them down, and once you know it, call (916) 675-8282 and we’ll schedule both ends of the job inside it.
Rule or no rule, we stay off the common areas. The private lake, Treelake Village Park and the entry plantings are the association’s to decorate, not ours, unless the board calls us about them.
What we put on a Treelake house
We keep it to six things, and most homes use three or four of them.
- Roofline lights along the eaves, gutters and front peaks, plus the back eave if your fence faces the East Roseville Parkway trail. Held by clips, never by nails or staples.
- Tree wraps on trunks and main branches inside your own lot. The trees at Treelake Village Park and around the private lake are the association’s.
- Pillar and column wraps where there’s a porch or an entry to dress.
- Stake lighting down the walk, the drive or a lawn edge, placed where the sprinklers aren’t.
- Lit wreaths for the house or above the garage door.
- Lit garland around a doorway, along a railing or over an arch.
The lights are ours. We carry them in, and we carry them back out in January. You don’t shop for anything, test anything or find a shelf for it afterward.
For more, see our Granite Bay holiday lighting page or the page about hanging lit wreaths. We also work in Hidden Valley and Los Lagos, if you have friends there.
Treelake Village Christmas light hanging, start to January
It goes like this. You call (916) 675-8282 and walk us through what’s out front, or text over some pictures of it. The contact page works for sending them, too. We talk through which of the six pieces make sense and where your outdoor outlets are. You get a quote right there over the phone. We don’t need to stand in your yard to give it.
On install day we hang, plug in, set the timer and check it lit. If a strand goes out later in the month, call (916) 675-8282 and we’ll see to it. Then in January we return, unclip the roofline, unwind the trees and leave the place as we found it.
A few Treelake Village questions
What does the Treelake Village HOA say about Christmas lights?
We could not find the association’s holiday rules published, so we don’t quote dates. Look at your own copy or phone the association office, then tell us the window and we’ll stay inside it.
Can you light the trees around the lake or at the park?
Not on a homeowner job. Those are common areas. If the association wants them lit, the board can hire us for that separately.
My yard backs up to the East Roseville Parkway trail. Is it worth lighting the back?
Usually a single line along the rear eave is enough to look good from the trail. It runs off the front’s timer.
Is Treelake Village Christmas light hanging any different near Granite Bay High School?
A little. On the routes families use to reach the school, the front of the house does the work, so we start with the roofline and one wrapped tree near the street.
