Some of the prettiest houses in Citrus Heights at Christmas are the plain ones. A single-story place with a big oak out front, a warm white line along the gutter, a wreath on the door. Nothing fancy, and it still makes you slow down. That’s the kind of Citrus Heights Christmas light hanging we like best, and it’s a short drive for us from Loomis. Ring (916) 675-8282 and you’ll have a price on that same call.
Citrus Heights Christmas Light Hanging Near Rusch Park and the Preserve
Rusch Park, off Antelope Road, grew out of the old Rusch family property, and the family’s house still stands in the gardens there. The streets around it are settled and shady. Sunrise Ranch, just up the road, lights about the same way: a clean roofline along the eaves, one wrapped tree, and not much else needed.
A little farther along Auburn Boulevard, toward the Roseville line, the Stock Ranch Nature Preserve keeps a stretch of creek and woods in the middle of all those rooftops. Homes near green space like that have darker backdrops at night, and a simple warm line shows up against the trees the way it does out in the country. It’s one of the things we notice driving through, and it’s a good argument for keeping a display simple.
Out east, Birdcage Heights spreads out around the Birdcage Centre near Sunrise Boulevard and Greenback Lane, next door to Orangevale. Plenty of porches over there are just right for a pillar wrap on each post and garland along the rail. On game nights the lit ball fields at C-Bar-C Park on Oak Avenue glow over that side of town, and a well-lit house nearby holds its own.
The Middle of Town
Along the older streets of Sylvan Old Auburn Road, a lot of the houses have porches and plain rooflines that suit a single warm line, the kind of display people slowed down for fifty years ago. Crosswoods, near Van Maren Lane, loops around on itself, and when a few neighbors on the loop go in together, the whole circle reads as one display. Park Oaks has some of the biggest front-yard trees in town, and there the wraps can be the whole show.
A Few Questions We Hear in Citrus Heights
Do you put holes in the roof or trim?
No. We hang everything on plastic clips. On composition shingle they slide under the tab, and on tile we use a clip made to grab the edge without lifting it. Gutters get clips that hook the lip. When they come off, there’s nothing to patch.
Which trees wrap well?
Oaks are wonderful, trunk and the lower limbs. Crepe myrtles, maples and fruit trees wrap nicely too. Tall pines are tough, so we usually light just the trunk. The tree wrapping page covers the rest.
What about the walkway and the lawn?
Stake lighting lines walkways and the edge of the driveway. We find every sprinkler head first and keep each stake clear of it.
Do I need to buy the lights or be home?
No to both. You don’t buy a thing, and if we can reach an outdoor outlet you don’t need to be there. We bring the lights, do the ladder work, and plan the power from your outdoor outlets. A timer handles the evening switch-on and the late-night shutoff, so you never have to remember. If a section goes out, a call to (916) 675-8282 brings us back to fix it.
How long do they stay up?
Through the holidays. Then in January we return, pull every strand off the house and trees, and take it with us, and none of it ends up on a shelf in your garage or up on the eaves in spring.
Do you light businesses?
Yes. Shops along the boulevards, office entries, church fronts and neighborhood entrance signs get the same care as a house.
